Imagine a facility operation where the life-cycle workloads were balanced in favor of reliability and longevity. Where the strategy for smarter facilities began with fewer moving parts. Where the smart solutions were more grounded in the physics of materials than computer screens and vaporware.
We built and now manage a universe of buildings whose solutions to HVAC were based on the miracle of 19th century industry and 20th century electrification. That is so fricken yesterday.
Today research has revisited the limitations of building shells that required a heavy handed, often over-engineered mechanical systems approach. That approach costs us in aging plants - look out young buildings with shiny new RTUs - with multitudes of failure points. And those limitations in building shells? We have thousands of buildings proving the results of decades of research: build a better envelope, use way less mechanical equipment.
This session explores the outcomes of that scenario.
